Department of Forensic Science / B.Sc. Forensic Science & Biochemistry
This programme is an interdisciplinary undergraduate programme that combines scientific investigation with cutting-edge understanding of the chemistry of life. It provides the students with firm foundations in crime scene management, forensic biology, chemistry, physics, and law, along with core biochemistry areas like biomolecules, human physiology, enzymology, metabolism, molecular biology, and clinical biochemistry.
Graduates are trained to apply scientific principles for criminal investigations as well as develop and innovate biochemical solutions for clinical, agriculture, diagnostics, and industrial applications. The B.Sc is a three year degree programme. However, as per the provisions of the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020), a student may continue into the fourth year and earn a B.Sc Honours degree.
Advanced analysis of poisons, drug metabolites, heavy metals, blood alcohol, and post-mortem biochemical changes.
Practical mastery in spectrophotometry, chromatography, electrophoresis, microscopy, and forensic chemistry.
Four-year honours degree with research projects in forensic genomics, bioprocess applications, and internships.
Graduates are equipped with scientific acumen, analytical competence, and practical expertise required across leading industries and research laboratories.
A structured academic pathway designed for high-impact professional careers and advanced research excellence.
