Karnataka Civil Defence Corps (KCDC)

1. Student Enrolment

• Every student eligible for appointment under the university regulations shall be required to submit an application and attend an interview before the competent authority.
• Both male and female students shall be eligible for appointment to the KCDC.
• A student shall be considered for appointment to the KCDC only if they meet the required eligibility standards.
• Applications will be scrutinized by the committee based on discipline, attendance, leadership skills, and willingness to volunteer.
• With the consent of the University KCDC Unit, selected students will be required to complete the necessary enrolment formalities to receive an official university badge from the KCDC.

Withdrawal / Termination:

• A member may withdraw voluntarily by submitting a written request.
• Membership may be revoked if the student violates the code of conduct, shows persistent lack of participation, or engages in misconduct damaging to the reputation of the Club or Institution.

2. Volunteer Conduct

• Standard of Conduct: Volunteers’ behavior should reflect respect, responsibility, and uphold the reputation of KCDC.
• Dress Code: Volunteers shall wear the Civil Defence uniform (as issued) during training, drills, and public events.
• Absenteeism: Volunteers are expected to arrive on time for all assigned events. Absences must be informed 24 hours in advance to the Staff Coordinator.
• Grievance Procedure: Volunteers may report grievances to the Faculty Coordinator. Unresolved matters will be referred to the Centre In-Charge.
• Discontinuation: Prior intimation should be given to coordinators if volunteers wish to leave KCDC.
• Safety & Liability: Volunteers should follow safety instructions, report injuries immediately, and use equipment properly.
• Media Conduct: Volunteers must not represent themselves as spokespersons without institutional approval.
• Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Strictly prohibited during service; violation may result in termination.
• Students must attend at least 75% of club activities and training sessions to receive Certificates of Participation or Excellence.

3. Faculty Coordinators

• Staff are expected to act professionally and in accordance with their role descriptions.
• The plan of action for an event should be prepared at least 7 days prior.
• If a faculty coordinator fails to conduct the assigned event, an explanation in the prescribed format must be submitted. Event in-charges are responsible for ensuring successful completion of the programme.

5. Procedure for Conducting Activities

1. Meeting with members to design the blueprint of the event.
2. Seek permission from the Centre In-Charge.
3. Send meeting notice to student volunteers.
4. Conduct meeting with students – explain event details and define responsibilities.
5. Event Promotion – create write-up and posters for website, social media, signage boards, and student notices through the KJU website.
6. Execute the event and submit report to the Website and IQAC.
